I was originally born in Crawfordsville Indiana and spent the first 10 years of my live in Waveland. I then moved to Lafayette Indiana where I stayed. I graduated from McCutcheon High School and Indiana Business College with a Business Associates Degree.
After the birth of my first son, Brian Christopher Oliver, and the death of my first husband; I tried finding peace and happiness in all the wrong places. With many prayers from my family I met my second husband, Rod Gustafson, who helped me pick myself up and start finding my life again. It was then that I knew I needed to get back to what I knew was my heritage. I gave my life to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and finally found that peace and happiness I was searching for.
The Lord has given me so many blessings and one of them is being able to do what I love the most and that is sing. I am the Alto singer for our Praise and Worship Band at HNC and I've also had the privilege of sharing God's love and His free salvation through music; doing Revivals, Women's meetings and retreats, Festivals, Fairs and through the recording of 2 CD's. When I'm not singing, I'm working at Purdue University as the Manager of the Chemistry Procurement Center and Store. I'm also on the Board and the Women's Ministry Committee at HNC. I have 3 wonderful boys, Brian Christopher Oliver - 23, Zachary Charles - 18 and Dillon Christian - 15.
One of the first verses I learned in church was Proverbs 3: 5&6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. I continue to hold on to this verse as my personal promise from God. Song lyrics also speak to me very deeply and my constant prayer is the lyrics to Darlene Zschech's song "Potters Hand."
Take me, Mold me, Use me, Fill me
I give my life to the Potters Hand
Call me, Guide me, Lead me, Walk beside me
I give my life to the Potters Hand.
