"Young at Heart" Senior Adults
The Young at Heart Ministry of the Hillsboro Nazarene Church announces these upcoming Saturday events. Unless otherwise noted, each event is scheduled from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (EDT), and reservations may be made by calling the church at (765) 798-2350. Activities are open to all older adults in Fountain and neighboring counties.
April 13: Young at Heart senior ministry is hosting a Celebration of Service to honor members of the Charles Forrest American Legion and other veterans. The event is 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the Veedersburg Fire Station, 100 South Main Street. A meatball sandwich lunch is being served, and Don Baker will be the entertainment. Spouses, friends and other older adults are invited to attend. The meal is complimentary for veterans and $1.00 for other participants. Reservations may be made by calling the church before April 8.
April 20: "Young at Heart"' older adult ministry presents Catching the Sun. Purdue Extension of Fountain County helps participants create individualized mason jar sun catchers. Participants purchase their lunch from the Oasis restaurant. Cost for the craft and Chocolate Lover’s Party Bingo is $1.00. Reservation deadline: April 17. Location: Kingman Public Library, Main Floor, 123 East State Street. (Participants may access the main floor on a lift elevator.) Note: This program is being held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Young at Heart senior ministry recently completed its Winter Weekend Sack Lunch program in Covington. Special thanks to the Covington Community Foundation, Covington Elementary School nutrition staff, Prairie Farms Dairy, Purdue Extension of Fountain County, and Radio WKZS/WSKL for their help. Also, appreciation is extended to the Covington churches, and other community organizations/businesses that helped to promote the lunch program. Between January 6 and March 2 , the ministry provided 828 sack lunches.
