"Young at Heart" Senior Adults
The Young at Heart Ministry of the Hillsboro Nazarene Church announces these upcoming Saturday events. Unless otherwise noted, each event is scheduled from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (EDT), and reservations may be made by calling the church at (765) 798-2350. Activities are open to all older adults in Fountain and neighboring counties.
August 10: Exploring the Night Sky. A naturalist from Turkey Run State Park will introduce the park’s planetarium, and give participants the
opportunity to observe first-hand some of the constellations and other phenomena commonly present in Indiana’s night sky. A bratwurst
sandwich lunch and Pokeno follow the program. Cost: $3. Reservation deadline: August 7. Location: d’Arlier Cultural Center,
Lower Level, 405 North Mill Street, Veedersburg. Note: Participants access the lower level on the walled ramp next to the Veedersburg
Public Library.
August 24: Mental Health First Aid. Purdue Extension of Fountain County introduces some of the emotional issues commonly faced by
persons of all ages, and some warning signs, response techniques and coping strategies. Following a triple- decker ham and cheese sandwich lunch, participants play Hawaiian party bingo. Cost: $3.00. Reservation deadline: August 21. Location: Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, 453 South State Road 341.
